Frequently Asked Questions
What is “somatic movement”?
Neuroscience for mind-body connection
Somatic movement refers to gentle exercises done with mindful awareness of internal sensations. Unlike typical exercise, somatic practices (Feldenkrais, Pilates, etc.) emphasize feeling and releasing habitual tension. We guide participants to notice how muscles and breath feel, and use movement to reset the nervous system.
Who is Ebb & Flow for?
Come as you are, no prior experience required.
Our programmes are designed to be inclusive for diverse age groups, learning profiles and physical abilities. For any individuals with the desire for better cognitive performance, resiliency and well-being: school students, educators, office teams, youth groups, sports teams, etc. No athletic ability is needed; exercises are gentle and adaptable for different abilities.
How is this different from a normal mindfulness or yoga class?
Embodiment through movement and sound therapy.
While it includes mindfulness, Ebb & Flow is distinct in its explicit goal of building resilience through embodiment. We don’t just sit quietly; we pair movement patterns (body-centered routines) with music and sound frequencies. This multi-sensory approach often produces deeper relaxation and quicker mood shifts than meditation alone.
